Thomas Allen is a tax partner in RSM US LLP’s business tax services practice in Houston. As the firm’s energy tax sector leader, he has more than 25 years of experience in the energy industry serving a wide variety of domestic and multinational companies.

Experience

Thomas Allen has enjoyed working with many upstream, midstream, downstream and oilfield service companies. He has assisted his clients with tax planning, tax compliance, income tax provision calculations and IRS audit defense.

With respect to tax consulting, he has advised clients on matters relating to corporate and partnership transactions and reorganizations, oil and gas taxation, international taxes, and accounting methods.

Thomas is experienced in accounting for income taxes in accordance with accounting principles generally accepted in the United States and International Financial Reporting Standards. Specifically, he has helped clients with a variety of related issues, including valuation allowances, uncertain tax positions, business combinations, stock-based compensation, carve-out financial statements, interim reporting, investments in domestic and foreign subsidiaries, and intercompany transactions.
