About Pete

Pete Berard is a senior director at RSM US LLP and a national leader of the state and local tax (SALT) employment tax practice. He has extensive experience in payroll and employment tax advisory, federal and state taxation, and information reporting requirements.

Experience

Pete practices in the areas of federal, state and local employment tax matters. He has more than 20 years of payroll and employment tax advisory experience, focusing on multistate income tax withholding issues, merger/acquisition integration, refund studies, statutory election analysis, risk management services, process reviews, information reporting and compliance issues.

Pete has worked extensively with clients across various industries, advising on federal and state taxation and information reporting requirements for executive compensation, deferred compensation, and stock options, and helping them develop policies and procedures to facilitate compliance with constantly evolving law.

In addition to serving clients, Pete has served as a contributing editor for the Payroll Practitioner’s Compliance Handbook and several editions of Principles of Payroll Administration, and has contributed to articles published in the BNA Daily Tax Report. He has appeared as a speaker for several payroll and tax organizations and local chapters of the Tax Executives Institute and PayrollOrg.
